This is my baked cinnamon apples recipe with no added sugar! It’s super duper easy and most importantly delicious. I really do think they taste like apple pie filling, but that’s debatable. You can eat them for breakfast with some oats (or whatever else you eat). You can even eat them as a snack or dessert. These apples are delicious for any occasion! Before we start cooking, here are a few things you need to know about this recipe.
Which Type of Apples Should I Use?
I used Cosmic apples, but you can use any apple you have as long as they’re sweet. I love Cosmic apples because they are sweet and crunchy. That’s why I used them. You may have Honey Crisp, Red Delicious, or Granny Smith, which can all be used. Just make sure the apples aren’t mushy and sour!
How Big Should The Apple Cubes Be?
I would say to make the apple cubes about the size of a tablespoon, but it’s ok if you don’t cut them to that exact size. Just make them as even as possible. If you make them smaller, I would subtract five minutes. If you make them bigger, add five minutes. I cut mine on the bigger side, and they took forty-five minutes to bake. It’s not really that hard, so you’ll be fine.
Do I Have To Add Lemon Juice and Vanilla?
You don’t have to add lemon juice or vanilla, but I would recommend adding them. When I made this recipe, I researched other baked apple recipes. Some had lemon juice and vanilla, but others didn’t. Because this recipe doesn’t have sugar like the other ones I found, I decided to add lemon juice and vanilla. It worked! They turned out amazing. If you really like lemon juice flavor or vanilla flavor, you can try putting a 1/2 teaspoon extra.
How Do I Know If The Apples Are Baked Well Enough?
The apples are baked well enough if a toothpick or fork goes through easily. They should be a bit brown on top, too. After a toothpick goes through easily, you can bake for a bit longer if you want them browner, but be careful not to burn them!
How Long Should They Cool For?
These baked apples should cool for about five minutes. If you don’t let them cool enough, they will burn your mouth! But if you let them cool for too long, they won’t taste as good. In my opinion, they are much better hot. So, let them cool for a few minutes, but don’t leave them out for more than thirty minutes.
What Should I Serve These With?
You can serve these with oats, yoghurt, nuts, or more fruit. I ate these plain, but I did dust some extra cinnamon on them. That made them extremely good! I would highly recommend doing this.
