Welcome to the “Which Living Kingdom Are You?” Personality Quiz! This quiz will tell you which living kingdom I think matches your personality.

What the Six Living Kingdoms Even Are

If you don’t know what the six living kingdoms are, let me tell you! Six living kingdoms divide living things into categories. As of right now, the classification level is: domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species. This changes often, however. When I learned about these living kingdoms, my textbook was old and didn’t talk about domains.

The living kingdoms are: Eubacteria, Archaea, Protista, Fungi, Plantae, and Animalia. Remember that these change often. When I learned about them, Kingdom Archaea was called Kingdom Archaebacteria. Now, they know that things from Kingdom Aechaea aren’t bacteria, so they removed bacteria from the name. You’ll learn more about these later.

Why I Made This Quiz

I made this quiz because of my science video lesson teacher. I was learning about biology one day. Then, I learned about the six living kingdoms. I was amazed because it was all new. The video lesson teacher said, “If you’re tough and love extreme conditions, you’d be Archea.” At the time, I was obsessed with personality quizzes.

“Why not make a personality quiz about this?” I thought. I made a personality quiz about the six living kingdoms later that day. That quiz was awesome, and I loved it so much! I think I took it like 5 times. My family members were clueless about all these big, fancy, Latin words when taking that quiz, but they were still supportive. Thanks, guys 🫶.

Results

Eubacteria

You got Eubacteria! Eubacteria are the bacteria that come to mind when you think about bacteria. Yogurt, cheese, food poisoning, and your guts are all related to Eubacteria. Not ALL bacteria are bad. Bacteria in your guts help digest food. I think you are like Eubacteria because they form colonies. You like hanging out with friends, too. You are very social!

Archaebacteria

You got Archaebacteria! Archaebacteria and Eubacteria used to be classified together. However, scientists found out that Archaebacteria are so different. Archaebacteria have special cell walls that allow them to exist in extreme conditions, like sulfur lakes and the Dead Sea. I think that you are like Archaebacteria because you are tough and don’t let challenges mess with you. You are very strong.

Protista

element You got Protista! Some organisms were tricking scientists. Because of this, they created a kingdom that is for any organism that doesn’t fit into any other category. It’s called Kingdom Protista. Protists usually live in water. Some have hairs that let them move through the water to get food. Others, like algae, make their own food. I think that you are like Protista because you love swimming. You love tropical environments!

Fungi

mushroom You got Fungi! Fungi include mushrooms, yeast, and mold. Fungi used to be classified with plants, but Fungi can’t make their own food. Because of this, they rely on different sources. They have cell walls made of chitin. Fungi are kinda picky. I think that you’re like Fungi because you prefer comfort and rely on others. You are relaxed.

Plantae

flower You got Plantae! Plantae is just plants. Flowers, moss, and ferns are classified in the Kingdom Plantae because they make their own food through photosynthesis. They provide for animals. I think that you are like Plantae because you are generous, self-sufficient, and love fruits and veggies. You are independent.

Animalia

You got Animalia! Animalia are animals. Frogs, snails, starfish, and ladybugs are all animals because they have many cells and can’t make their own food. Animals have nervous systems that sense the world. I think that you are like Kingdom Animalia because you are emotional and move around. You are unique.

Here are some fun facts about the living kingdoms in case you care:

Viruses:

Viruses are not alive! They aren’t made of cells, do not need energy to survive on their own, and barely respond to stimuli. Scientists have these characteristics of life that they use to identify if something is alive or not. A living thing has to meet all of these requirements. Viruses do not meet them. So, viruses are really just packages of genetic material floating about.

Eubacteria:

Some bacteria can split in half to form two new bacteria every 20 minutes! That means that at the end of the day, there would be about 5 × 1021 bacteria! Or a 5 followed by 21 zeros. So, 5,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. That’s a lot! However, bacteria can only split that quickly if they have the perfect conditions. And the perfect conditions never last long. The amount of resources decreases as bacteria split. So, you don’t have to worry about bacteria taking over the world 😅.

Archaea:

Archaea is called archaea after a Greek word that means ancient. Scientists believe that the Kingdom Archaea was one of the first life forms. That is why they named it that. However, we know that is NOT true.

You actually have archaea living all over you! Your gut is home to a bunch of them. They don’t only live in harsh environments. Thankfully, they do NOT make you sick.

Protista:

When protists, called dinoflagellates, overpopulate the water, they give the water a red color. This is called a red tide. This is deadly to fish, sadly. 😢

Protista can be autotrophs or heterotrophs! That means that they can make their own food through photosynthesis or eat other organisms. Did you know that the ocean is actually a huge source of oxygen? You may know that oxygen is a byproduct of photosynthesis. The plankton in the ocean go through photosynthesis and give us oxygen!

Fungi:

Fungi play a role in the making of chocolate! Isn’t that crazy!!! So, cacao beans are harvested, they go through fermentation, and a type of fungi helps break down the beans’ sugars. This makes the rich, delicious chocolate flavor we all love. Without fungi, chocolate would taste bitter and flat. Gross and boring! So the next time you eat a chocolate bar, thank the tiny fungi that made it delicious. 🍫

Plantae and Animalia:

Phylum Arthropoda is the phylum in the Kingdom Animalia with the most species. Arthropoda includes insects (the largest class in Arthropoda), Crustaceans (crabs and lobsters), and finally Chelicerates (spiders).

Acacia trees (kingdom Plantae) and ants (Animalia) have this type of relationship called mutualism. This means that both organisms benefit from being together. The acacia tree gives the ants a home and sweet nectar for food. In return, the ants protect the tree from bad insects and even giraffes that want to eat the tree’s leaves! Isn’t that crazy!?

Did you know that there are these things called water bears? They are a part of the animal phylum Tardigrada. When conditions are harsh, they curl up into a little ball called a tun. In their tun state, they can survive radiation and even the cold vacuum of outer space! Yes, they can survive the void of space in their tuns! I think that I’m in my water bear phase. I love these creatures.
