Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Here’s the first one of my top 10 favorite Bible verses and passages! I like this verse because it reminds me to read the Bible. It also gives me an example of how to resist the Devil: “It is written.”
9. Philippians 4:4-7
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I like these verses because they remind me not to be scared, but to be thankful instead. They show me what to do when I am nervous.
8. Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
I like these verses because they tell me if I’m living according to the Spirit. If I’m not, then I should change.
7. Psalms 91
I like this passage because my mom had me memorize it. THE WHOLE THING! 🫠. I was able to memorize it by dividing it into two sections.
Section 1
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked
Section 2
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life, I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
That’s the whole chapter! It reminds me how much God loves and cares about me.
6. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
I like this verse because it reminds me to be generous.
5: Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
I like this verse because it reminds me that I represent God. I should be kind and brave to represent God well.
4. Deuteronomy 28:8
The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.
I like this verse because it tells me that God is the God of abundance.
3. 2 Timothy 1:6-7
Therefore, I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
This verse isn’t just my third favorite verse because it’s 2 Timothy 1:6-7 🤪. It’s my third favorite because it reminds me that I should fuel my fire. It also helps me determine if something is from God or not. If it isn’t from God, I should throw it out!
2. Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I like this verse because it reminds me of the power Jesus gave me.
1. Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
This is the last passage. It is my favorite because I probably wouldn’t have made this website if it weren’t for them! These verses have always helped me along the way.
