This is my Valentine’s Day trail mix for breakfast. It’s nutritious, delicious, and very cute for Valentine’s Day. Like any other trail mix, it’s super quick and easy. It’s not complicated, making it perfect for busy people. This trail mix has fruit, nuts, and will fuel you for the morning. Let’s make it, girlies!
The Story
I love trail mix recipes and here’s why. I like experimenting to create new recipes, but it’s kinda hard to do that with cookies because of the baking temperature and more. That’s why my first recipes that I created when I was younger were trail mix recipes! They are so much fun to invent because you just mix things together and use your creativity. If you want to create recipes this year (this was one of my New Year’s Resolution Ideas), trail mix is definitely a fun, easy choice to start out with.
So, when I was younger, I made some trail mix recipes that I have saved on a Google Doc. Trail mix tasted amazing to me. I loved taking advantage of my pre-recorded video lectures by snacking in the middle of them. That’s a benefit of being homeschooled! My first trail mix recipe that I often ate during lectures was so good that it was the only thing my brother wanted to eat for breakfast. However, that recipe was loaded with sugar, so this breakfast trail mix recipe leaves that part out 😅.
The Ingredients
The ingredients of this recipe are:
- Freeze-dried strawberries
- Purple raisins
- Pecans
- And popcorn
Pretty simple!
However, you may not have freeze-dried strawberries. They are a snack that most people don’t know is good (read some of my other favorite underrated snacks!). So, I’d highly recommend getting them at your grocery store. They are great for this trail mix because they are pink, taste good, and dry, unlike regular strawberries. But can you use regular strawberries for this trail mix? I’d say no. The strawberries would make the popcorn soggy. Instead, use extra raisins, dry the strawberries with a paper towel really well, or use anything else you can find in your pantry that’s pink or red.
This recipe calls for purple raisins because their color is more related to Valentine’s Day. You CAN use golden raisins if you don’t have purple raisins. It’s not that big of a deal.
Pecans are my favorite for trail mix, but you can use whatever nut you want. Try using peanuts, cashews, or walnuts.

Finally, I used Skinny Pop popcorn for this recipe, but you can use what you have. You can use microwave popcorn or pop your own, but I chose Skinny Pop because it’s better in a trail mix. It doesn’t get soggy as easily and looks better.
That’s it for the ingredients.
