“Homeschooled girl shall not live on cookies alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God,” or something like that. Welcome to the December Bible Study Challenge: Isaiah 9:6 Part One! This December, we’ll have a Bible study on Isaiah 9:6. On December 31st, you’ll share what you observed, and I’ll share what I observed. So, do you accept this challenge? Ok, let’s start!
Your Mission
Your mission is to have a Bible study on Isaiah 9:6. You must have a pencil or pen and a piece of paper to complete this mission. After you grab that, you have to write some things. The things you have to write are:
- Your Observation: What do you observe from this verse? Include the answers to all of the Main Questions.
- Your Application: How can you apply this to your life?
- And a Prayer: It has to be based on your observation and application.
Finally, share what you observed on the 31st of December. You don’t have to share your observation, but I would highly encourage you to. Now that you know what your mission is, we can start the Bible study!
Isaiah 9:6 NKJV:
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Three Main Questions
IT’S TIIIIIIME! Christmas is finally here! I am so excited for presents, holiday activities, and no school for two weeks! I love Christmas activities like giving gifts, baking cookies, and singing songs. Christmas is the time for fun and family. It is also a great time for Bible studies. So, I chose Isaiah 9:6 to be our Bible study verse for this month because it’s a prophecy of Jesus coming into the world. Basically, when Adam and Eve sinned, God promised to redeem them. This happened through Jesus. Jesus was born and that’s what Christmas is all about.
There are many prophecies about Jesus coming, and this is one of them. Let me dissect everything this prophecy says for you! Firstly, the Child and Son are Jesus. The government being upon His shoulders means that Jesus has more power than all of the civilizations on Earth combined! This also means the Jesus is a stable foundation. Then, this verse lists all the names that Jesus will be called. These names sound very important. Have you ever stopped to think about how powerful Jesus is? And how does this relate to Christmas? This leads us to our three Main Questions!
- Isaiah 9:6 says that the Son was given. What does that prove about God’s love and how does this relate to Christmas?
- What do the names given to Jesus prove about His character?
- Why is Christmas important?
Ok, now write your observation, application, and prayer!
Observation, Application, and Prayer
First, write your observation of Isaiah 9:6. Include the answers to the three Main Questions.
Next, write your application. How can you apply this to your life?
Finally, write a prayer.
Make sure to write your observation on December 31! That’s when I’ll share mine.
Conclusion
Thanks so much for participating in the December Bible Study Challenge: Isaiah 9:6! I am so excited to see you on the 31st when we share our observations! See you then! Bye, girlies!
