Welcome to the dye-free, microwave Chex Mix that’s perfect for all parties! It’s easy, quick, and everyone likes it. Because it’s gluten-free and nut-free (when you use gluten-free pretzels and no nuts), it’s a really safe option to bring to a party. Whenever I don’t know what to bring to a party, I bring this. Though I bring this to parties, I also enjoy this recipe as an everyday snack. Let me tell you more.
Chex Mix: An Everyday Snack and a Party Food
This recipe started as a nostalgic recipe that my mom always made for me. I’d eat it on movie nights, Labor Day, and park days. If you read my autumn granola recipe, then you’d remember that I live in an ingredient household where everything exists in the form of ingredients. That’s one reason why my mom always made Chex Mix from scratch. The other reason is that the store-bought one tastes so bland after eating homemade Chex Mix. My mom always added peanuts and sometimes pretzels. Then, I grew up, so I could start making it for myself (and my brother too, of course 😁) any time I wanted. I stopped adding nuts and pretzels.
This Chex Mix recipe is a great breakfast, since it is just seasoned cereal. My brother constantly begs me to make it when we have Chex cereal. I mean, I get why. I can eat it with lunch and even dinner. It’s an amazing snack. Though I eat it as a snack, I also bring it to parties.
This version of Chex Mix that you’re reading today was for a Thanksgiving party. It had to be nut-free, dye-free, and gluten-free. I found these dye-free chocolate gems and gluten-free pretzels at Walmart that I have to tell you about.

The chocolate gems that you’re gonna see in this recipe are the Unreal Milk Chocolate Gems (This is an affiliate link, meaning when you buy from that link, I get a small commission at no extra cost to you!). They have a lovely color, but ARE DYE-FREE?!?!?!? Yes, they are dye-free. I was so surprised when I opened the bag. They have an amazing color, taste, and texture, but are made from ingredients that I can read! Please buy these today.
Now, the pretzels. The pretzels that I used were the Gluten-Free Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps (affiliate). When I tried one, I really couldn’t believe that they were gluten-free. They tasted like regular pretzels! I’d highly recommend them!
