“Homeschooled girl shall not live on cookies alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God,” or something like that. Welcome to the November Bible Study Challenge: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18! This November, we’ll have a Bible study on this passage. On the 30th, we’ll share what we observed. Do you accept this challenge? If so, then let’s dive into the Word!
Your Mission
Your mission is to have a Bible study on 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Let me tell you exactly how to complete this mission. First, you’ll need to grab a piece of paper to write on and a pencil or pen to write with. Then, you’ve got to:
- Write your observation of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Answer the three main questions.
- Write your application (how you can apply this passage to your life)
- Write a prayer based on your observation and application
- And finally, share what you observed at the end of the month (if you want to 😁. This step is optional.
Now that you know your mission, we can start!
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV:
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Three Main Questions
I chose 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 to be our Bible study verses this month, obviously because Thanksgiving is coming soon (is anyone else in shock? I feel like July was yesterday!). So, Thanksgiving isn’t just a day to watch football and eat yummy food (though food is good. Click here if you want my caramel corn recipe!). It’s the day when we give thanks to God! It’s also the day we remember how blessed we are to live in America. Though the world is far from perfect because Adam and Eve chose to sin, there are still so many things to be thankful for. Plus, Jesus died and rose again to break the power of death that came when they chose to sin, which is another thing to be thankful for. However, sometimes we don’t feel like being thankful.
Have you ever felt moody and unthankful? I definitely have! It can be hard to control moodiness, but we should. “Why?” you may ask. You’ll discover why today! Here are the three main questions we’ll focus on in our Bible study observation:
- Is being ungrateful what’s best for us? (Hint: God’s will is what’s best for us.)
- Why should we choose to be thankful?
- How do we control moodiness? (Hint: What are the first two things this passage says are God’s will for us?)
Now, time to write your observation, application, and prayer!
Observation, Application, and Prayer
First, write your observation of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Answer all three questions.
Next, write your application. How can you apply this to your life?
Finally, write your prayer that goes with your observation and application.
Share your observation on November 30th. That’s when I’ll share mine!
Conclusion
Thank you for doing the November Bible Study Challenge: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18! I am so excited to see what you observed. See you on November 30th, so you and I can share our observations! Bye, girlies!
