October Bible Study Challenge: Philippians 4:6-7 Part 2

On October 1st, we had a Bible study. Now, it’s time to share what we wrote! Click read more if you want to share.

“Homeschooled girl shall not live on cookies alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God,” or something like that. It’s time to share what you observed this month (if you want to. I’m not forcing you to do anything)! Welcome to the October Bible Study Challenge: Philippians 4:6-7 Part 2. At the beginning of this month, we had a Bible study on Philippians 4:6-7. If you missed it, click here! You can still participate. Here’s what I wrote in my Bible study.

Reminder of what Philippians 4:6-7 says:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

My observation and application:

Today is Halloween. Am I the only one who is annoyed by the movies being advertised? Is anyone else rolling their eyes at the creepy decorations being displayed at the stores? Candy and costumes are fun and cool, but some people are entertaining fear by celebrating Halloween (Halloween also has weird origins, which are not very nice). Remember that entertaining fear means creating cozy rooms in our heads for fear by making fear seem fun. What does the Bible say about entertaining fear? What does the Bible say to do when we are scared? Here’s my observation and application for this verse!

I observed that the Bible tells me not to be anxious about anything. This means that I should not entertain fear. Fear is not fun! Fear is also NOT from God (2 Timothy 1:7). If something is not from God, then why would I want to entertain it in my mind?

So, how do I get rid of fear when I am scared (because fear is not fun)? When I’m nervous or scared, I should pray with a thankful heart (by the way, is anyone else excited for Thanksgiving?). Then, the peace of God that no one can describe will comfort my mind.

Here’s how I could apply this (you don’t have to share how you apply this to your life. I just want to!). Some things make me nervous. I should pray to God when I’m scared. I have prayed to God when I’ve been scared in the past. Did the peace of God that transcends all understanding guard my heart and mind? Yes! Prayer works.

Conclusion:

So, that’s my observation and application for the October Bible Study Challenge: Philippians 4:6-7 Part 2! In conclusion, we should not entertain fear this Halloween. We should pray if we’re scared. Then, the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Comment on your observation that you made when we had the Bible study on the first of this month! I’m so excited to see what you wrote! Bye, girlies!
