Super Pretty Valentine’s Day Card that Anyone Can Make

Do you need a card design that doesn’t need a trip to the craft store? This is my super pretty Valentine’s Day card design that anyone can make!

Here’s how to create a super pretty Valentine’s Day card that almost anyone can make. It’s super easy, but very pretty. You also don’t need any materials that would require a trip to the craft store. This card design is very customizable, allowing you to add any materials you have and leave out the materials you don’t have. Let’s craft, girlies!

Things Before We Start

There are a few things you may need to know before we start crafting.

Materials

This card design requires two pieces of paper, a pencil, scissors, tape, a Sharpie, and markers. The rest of the things are recommended, but optional. This card design has a piece of string at the top corner, but you don’t need to add it if you don’t have string. But you can add any other decorations you do have instead. For example, I made Valentine’s Day cards with stick-on rhinestones last year. One last thing is that the Sharpie leaked through the paper because I didn’t have construction paper. If you want to avoid this, use a black pen. It would look less clean, but that’s ok.

Technique

There are a few different techniques that you’ll use for this card design that you need to know. First, you need to know how to make double-sided tape. Basically, you cut a piece of regular tape. Fold it over itself, sticky side out. Make the ends overlap, making a ring shape.

Another technique you’ll use is what I call the paper fan fold. So, you fold a section of the bottom end of a paper up. Flip the paper over and do the same thing. Try to make all sections you fold up the same size. Not only do you need the paper fan fold for this card design, but it’s also a great way to pass the time during a boring lecture or event. It’s also a great way to stay cool on hot days when you don’t have a fan!

A Gift

You really don’t need a gift, but it’s nice for the person receiving it. Here are a few gift ideas that are practical, but fun to go with this card! My first idea is my cute pencil craft. Grab some Valentine’s Day washi tape, and make a cute pencil to go with your card! Another idea is some fun candy (does anyone else have leftover Christmas candy, or am I weird?). Add a bow if you want to. You can also give a small toy or bracelet. If you love bracelet making like me, this is a good idea. Ok, that’s enough extra info about my super pretty Valentine’s Day card design that anyone can make. Let’s start!

How to Make a Super Pretty Valentine’s Day Card

Materials:

  • Two pieces of paper (preferably construction paper)
  • A pencil
  • Sharpie (or a black pen for no leaking through the paper)
  • Scissors
  • Markers
  • Tape (preferably double-sided)
  • Piece of string or yarn (optional)
  • Any other cute decorations you have
  • Gift to go with the card, like candy or a toy (optional)
  1. First, gather all of your materials. You will need two pieces of paper, a pencil, a sharpie, scissors, markers, tape, a piece of string, any other cute decorations you have, and a gift to go with the card. The gift is optional, but it can be candy or a toy. Plan what you want the card to say. Make it funny, heartfelt, or neutral. Also plan any designs you want on the card. Then, you can actually start crafting.
  2. Fold both pieces of paper in half with a hamburger fold. On one of the pieces of paper, draw a heart on one of the halves with a pencil. Don’t make it too big, or else there won’t be enough room to write your message. Color it using the marker. You can shade if you want. Outline it with a Sharpie if you want to. Cut it out, leaving a little bit of white paper on the edge. Cut a strip from the leftover paper, and fold it to make it into a zig-zag shape. Did you ever make those paper fans in boring lectures or events? Basically, use the same technique. Make it look something like this ⬇
  3. Ok, now it’s time to make the heart a pop-up. Put some double-sided tape on the top of the zig-zag paper strip. Attach it to the center of the uncolored side of the heart. Then, put more double-sided tape on the bottom of the paper strip and stick it where you want the heart. Add one more piece of double-sided tape to the back of the bottom tip of the heart and stick it to the card so the pop-up is more stable. This makes the heart a pop-up! If you don’t have double-sided tape, make some by folding regular tape over itself to make a ring. Make it look like this picture ⬇
  4. So, it’s time to work on the front of the card! First, add the optional string to the top corner of the card. Use a hole puncher or fold the tip over and cut a slit through the paper to loop the string through. Tie the string. Next, write your message using a pencil and trace over it with a Sharpie. I wrote, “Happy Valentine’s Day!”. Draw hearts, a border, and don’t forget to say who it’s from and who it’s for! Just draw according to your design. Mine looked like this ⬇
  5. Then, write the message inside the card. You can use a Sharpie or just a pencil. Add any more decorations or drawings inside.
  6. Finally, grab your optional gift to go with the card. So, I hope the person receiving the card likes it! I also hope that you had fun making it.

So that’s how to make a super easy Valentine’s Day card that anyone can make. It’s customizable, pretty, and a very nice gift for someone you love. If you tried this craft, comment on how it went. While you’re there, tell me if you have any other craft ideas that you want me to post. That’s all. Bye, girlies!
